Shah blames ‘Didi’s conspiracy’ for exclusion of Matua names
Kolkata: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday sharpened BJP's electoral pitch in Bengal, accusing chief minister Mamata Banerjee of orchestrating a "conspiracy" to delete the names of Matua and Namasudra voters from the electoral rolls.Addressing a rally in Ranaghat South, a constituency with significant Matua population, Shah said, "Mamatadidi got names of some Matuas and Namasudras deleted from the electoral roll. She conspired against them. Each of their names will be restored after May 5."

Pivoting on national security during a rally in Nadia's Tehatta, Shah invoked the sacrifice of Para SF commando Jhantu Ali Sheikh, who was killed during a counterterror operation in Jammu and Kashmir. "On April 22, 2025, Jhantu Ali Sheikh laid down his life for the nation. After that, Modiji carried out Operation Sindoor," Shah said."The entire state is filled with infiltrators. They are eating into your resources and compromising national security," Shah said. "They have now been removed from the voter list. A BJP CM will drive them out from Bengal," he added.
